Why therapy?

Many people come to therapy to improve their quality of life by making changes to their psychological well-being. Often, though not always, there may be a crisis, a loss or transition in life, or a sense of dissatisfaction or uneasiness that prompts a search for help. Life is moving at an incredibly fast pace which is creating feelings of overwhelm and stress for many. Statistically we are seeing a rise in anxiety and depression and other mental illness. Currently we are focused on physical well-being, which is as important as our mental health, and I believe they go together. We all need to develop self care strategies as we live in a busy and hectic world. That can mean different things to different people, and therapy can help people find a balance in their life that creates a better sense of well-being.
Approach
My approach to therapy is to understand who you are, and how you perceive the world around you. Working together, we’ll build on your inner strengths to change engrained behaviour patterns that may no longer serve your needs. I am passionate about helping people improve their quality of life, by helping them understand and commit to what they are passionate about.
My theoretical approach is multidisciplinary, based on clinical best practices. It draws heavily on the Extentialism and Humanistic movement, which is based on the belief that people are intently good and have a desire to thrive and live authentic lives. Existentialism is a traditionally a philosophical approach which is based on the experience of the human subject — not merely the thinking subject, but the acting, feeling, living human individual. It is often associated with a more spiritual influence and the current model fits into mindful mediation. I have also been trained in Mindfulness, Thanatology (death and dying) Family therapy, Marital therapy and CBT.
